The enduring mission of the Tobias Center is inspiring leadership excellence on a national scale. Special access to the Center’s work will be furnished to Indiana citizens for the distinct purpose of enhancing leadership within the state.
Executive Vice-Chancellor Uday Sukhatme recently announced the Tobias Center has been named as one of the first Signature Centers on the IUPUI campus. This designation and financial support will allow the Tobias Center to pursue new initiatives such as the Urban Leadership Institute for urban school leaders and an IUPUI Leadership Academy for undergraduate students.
Urban Leadership Institute
The focus of the Urban Leadership Institute will be to help prepare urban school administrators and principal candidates for their leadership roles. To this end the Tobias Center will collaborate with the School of Education to provide three days of leadership training for urban principal candidates. The Tobias Center will help provide different perspectives on leadership including business, government, medical and non-profit perspectives. The specific goals of the institute would be:
IUPUI Undergraduate Leadership Academy:
The IUPUI Leadership Academy will be open to IUPUI undergraduates from any discipline and will expose them to a range of leadership issues. We expect to have a select group of undergraduates who can enter the Academy by invitation only.
